Cardiac beriberi

Japanese: 心臓脚気 - しんぞうかっけ

A slang term for beriberi symptoms that appear in the circulatory system. It is also called shoshin beriberi. Symptoms include a drop in blood pressure due to relaxation of the blood vessel walls and an enlarged heart. When exercising, patients may experience palpitations, chest pain, shortness of breath, vomiting, hiccups, and dry throat. Treatment involves rest and vitamin _B1 supplementation. It is a rare disease these days.

循環器に現れる脚気症状の俗称。衝心(しょうしん)脚気ともいう。血管壁の弛緩(しかん)による血圧低下や，心臓の拡大などを呈する。運動時に，心悸亢進，胸内苦悶(くもん)，息切れを感じ，さらに嘔吐(おうと)，しゃっくり，のどのかわきなども生ずる。安静とビタミンB₁補給で治療する。近年ではまれな疾患である。
