Urnenfeld culture

Urnenfeld culture
A culture from the European Bronze Age. It is usually named after the practice of cremating corpses and placing their bones in jars, and in English is called the Urnfield culture, which is translated as the cremation tomb culture. This culture was established in Central Europe in the second half of the 2nd millennium BCE. As the custom of cremation is seen in the Kisapostag culture of Hungary, it is reasonable to assume that it originated from these cultures. Eventually, this custom of cremation, along with the culture of urns and bronze implements for storing bones, spread throughout Northern Italy and other parts of Europe. It then came into contact with the Greek culture that was beginning to flourish at the time, and was replaced by the Hallstatt culture.
