Zibo - Zibo

An industrial city in the central Shandong Province, China, at the northern foot of Lushan Mountain. It is a prefecture-level city with jurisdiction over five city districts and three counties (as of 2016). In 1945, the Zichuan and Boshan mining districts merged, and in 1955, it was incorporated as a city. It has a population of 4.28 million (2014). The Jiaozi Line (Qingdao - Jinan) and the Boshan Line (Zhangdian - Boshan) intersect here, and urban areas spread along the lines. There are large coalfields in Zichuan and Boshan, and after Germany leased Jiaozhou Bay at the end of the 19th century, full-scale coal mining began. In addition to coal, there are also mines for bauxite and limestone, as well as oil and gas fields, including the Gaoqing and Jinjia oil fields. Boshan is famous for its ceramics and glassware, which date back to the Sui dynasty. Linzi District in the eastern part of the city was the capital of the Qi state during the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period.

中国、山東(さんとう)省中部、魯山(ろざん)の北麓にある工業都市。地級市であり、5市轄区、3県を管轄する（2016年時点）。1945年に淄川(しせん)、博山(はくさん)両鉱区が合併し、1955年に市制が敷かれた。人口428万（2014）。膠済(こうさい)線（青島(チンタオ)―済南(さいなん)）、博山線（張店(ちょうてん)―博山）が交わり、沿線に市街区が広がる。淄川、博山に大きな炭田があり、19世紀末のドイツによる膠州湾租借後、本格的に採炭が開始された。石炭のほか、ボーキサイト、石灰石などの鉱山、高青(こうせい)油田や金家油田をはじめとする油田、ガス田もある。隋(ずい)代に始まる博山の陶磁器、ガラスは特産である。市東部の臨淄(りんし)区には、春秋戦国時代に斉(せい)国の都が置かれた。
