...Being buried near a saint would allow the saint to intercede for them after death. Famous shrines are visited by people from far away, and especially during the annual festivals (maulids, or urus in India) held at the shrines, bustling towns and cities. The shrines of Ahmad al-Badawi, the saint of Tanta, in Lower Egypt and Ajmer in India are well known.
