[1] (Noun ) (meaning the part of a capital city to the right when facing south from the Imperial Palace) The western half of Heijo-kyo, Heian-kyo, etc., divided by Suzaku- oji . Western capital. ⇔ Left capital. ※Shoku Nihongi - Tenpyo 13 (741), September Kimi: "According to the west road of Kayoyama, the _Left _capital is located _east of the _Sakyo , and the Right capital is located west of the _Sakyo ." [2] _One of the administrative districts of Kyoto. Established in 1931. Located in the northwest of the city, on the east bank of the Katsura River. It contains Ryōan-ji Temple, Tenryū-ji Temple, Ninna-ji Temple, and Osawa-ike Pond. In 1951, the Saikyō Ward was divided.

[1] 〘名〙 (京(みやこ)の中で皇居から南を向いて右手に当たる部分の意) 平城京、平安京などを、朱雀大路(すざくおおじ)を境にして分けた西半分。西の京。⇔左京。※続日本紀‐天平一三年（741）九月己未「従_二賀世山西道_一以東為_二左京_一、以西為_二右京_一」[2] 京都の行政区の一つ。昭和六年（一九三一）成立。市北西部、桂川の東岸に位置する。龍安寺・天龍寺・仁和寺・大沢池などがある。同五一年に西京区を分区。
