…In Vienna, a unique tradition was established after the establishment of the “Jung Wiener Theater zum Lieben Augustin” by Felix Salten (1869-1945) in 1901. In Berlin, Ernst von Wolzogen (1885-1934) created “Überbrettl” in the same year, and M. Reinhardt created “Schall und Rauch”, while in Munich “Eleven Executioners” was created, which became popular for a time as a new mode, but did not last long. However, Wedekind, who revitalized the tradition of German street song “Bänkelsang”, created the origin of German cabaret (Kabarett). …
