Ouachita Mountains

The climate is humid and warm, similar to that of southwestern Japan. The northwestern part of the state is made up of the Ozark Plateau and the Ouachita Mountains, and is covered with forests. The mountainous areas have traditionally been poor, but their isolation has improved with the improvement of transportation conditions, and tourism development has also progressed, centering on Hot Springs National Park.
