Uetsu Hokusen Line

...The main stops on the route are Shibata, Murakami, Tsuruoka, Sakata, and Honjo from the Niitsu side. In 1914, the Niitsu-Murakami section was completed as the Murakami Line, and in the same year, the Amarume-Sakata section was opened as part of the Sakata Line. Meanwhile, in 1920, the Akita-Michikawa section was opened as the Uetsu Kita Line from the Akita side. It was extended in stages, and in 1921, the Akita-Nezugaseki section was completed, which became the Uetsu Line. In the same year, the Nezugaseki-Murakami section was opened, and the Niitsu-Akita section was completed, and the old Murakami Line became the Uetsu Line, and in 1930, it was renamed the Uetsu Main Line.
