Uesugi family articles

[Warring States Law]
The Echigo Uesugi clan was a feudal lord in the Sengoku period who did not enact any fixed laws or provincial laws for the purpose of governance. Policies and rulings were issued individually, and many took the form of articles (collectively known as the Uesugi Articles). Major articles from Kenshin's time include the 11 articles issued to Funai-cho in 1560 (Eiroku 3), the amnesty issued to the Ueda and Tsumari manors of Uonuma County the following year, and the official document issued to Kashiwazaki-cho in 1564, as well as the official document issued to Noto Province in 1577 (Tensho 5), which outlined a policy for governing new territories resulting from foreign invasions.
