Widmanstätten pattern Meteorite Intetu A unique crystal structure seen in meteorites. It refers to a lattice pattern of triangles and parallelograms that appears when a meteorite containing a lot of nickel is cut and the surface is polished. Widmanstätten pattern隕鉄いんてつに見られる特有の結晶構造。ニッケルを多く含む隕鉄を切断し、表面を研磨すると現れる三角形や平行四辺形の格子模様を指す。ゆっくり冷却する過程でニッケルの結晶が成長することでできる。人為的に作ることができないため、隕鉄の真贋の判定に用いられる。ウィドマンシュテッテン像。
