Yorishima [town] - Yorishima

Japanese: 寄島[町] - よりしま

An old town in Asakuchi County facing the Mizushima Nada Sea in the southwest of Okayama Prefecture. Yorishima Port flourished as the outer port of Kamogata Domain. Akura to the east is a fishing village. The town was the number one producer of Bangkok hats in the country, but this has declined, and instead, production of polypropylene blinds has become popular. A timber complex has been completed, and fish farming is also carried out. In March 2006, it merged with Kanemitsu Town and Kamogata Town in Asakuchi County to become a city, Asakuchi City. 9.01 ^km2 . 6,722 people (2003).

岡山県南西部，水島灘に臨む浅口郡の旧町。寄島港は鴨方(かもがた)藩の外港として栄えた。その東の安倉(あくら)は漁村。バンコク帽の生産は全国一であったが衰微し，代わってポリプロピレン製すだれの生産が盛ん。木材コンビナートが完成，栽培漁業も行われる。2006年３月，浅口郡金光町，鴨方町と合併し市制，浅口市となる。9.01km²。6722人（2003）。
