The first is the Coleochaetophyceae, which follows higher plants and includes Spirogyra and Coleochae. The second is the true green algae Chlorophyceae, which are found in inland waters and include Chlamydomonas, Acanthurus nigricans, and Fritschella. The third is the Ulvophyceae, which grows in the sea and includes Ulva, Cladophora, and Misty. Some green algae, such as Chlorella, contain a large amount of protein and are highly nutritious foods, while others, such as Aonori, Hitoegusa, and Kawanori, have a flavor and are edible when dried or boiled. …
