Kassala
A city in eastern Sudan. The capital of Kassala State. Located on the Gash River near the border with Eritrea. Founded in 1840 by the Egyptian governor Muhammad Ali as a military base against Ethiopia. A key transportation point connecting Khartoum and Port Sudan.
