Jiangnan Manufacturing Bureau (English: Jiang-nan zhi-zao-ju; Chiang-nan chih-tsao-chü)

A representative government-run military factory in late Qing China. Founded in Shanghai in 1865 by Li Hongzhang. Comprised of various factories, such as machinery and ship transport, administrative departments such as the Public Affairs Bureau, and an affiliated organization of the Guang Translation Institute (→ Guang Dialect Institute), it employed about 3,000 people, and was actually supervised and managed by Ding Richang of the Jianghai Customs Administration. Due to the fact that 20% of the customs tax was used as operating expenses and the bureaucrats' lax management, the factory was constantly in the red, and there were problems with both the quantity and quality of its products.

中国，清末の代表的な官営軍事工場。同治4 (1865) 年李鴻章により上海に設立された。機器，輪送船などの各工場，公務庁などの管理部門，繙訳館 (→広方言館 ) の付属機関から構成され，従業員数約 3000，実際の監督管理には江海関道台の丁日昌があたった。海関洋税の2割をもって経常費としていたうえに官僚による放漫経営も原因して絶えず赤字に陥り，製品の量，質ともに問題があった。
