Juichiya Gisaburo - Juichiya Gisaburo

Japanese: 十一谷義三郎 - じゅういちやぎさぶろう
Juichiya Gisaburo - Juichiya Gisaburo

Novelist. Born in Kobe. After enduring hardships including the death of his father and the departure of his older brother, he decided to pursue literature from high school. While studying English at Tokyo Imperial University, he founded the literary magazine "Koro." After graduating, he worked on writing alongside his teaching job, publishing "Seibatsu" (1923). In 1924 (Taisho 13), he participated in the launch of "Bungei Jidai." He died of illness after leaving behind such representative works as "Aokusa" (1924), "Half the Life of Mariko the Tailor" (1928), "Toujin O-Kichi" (1928), which was well-received for its historical basis in Shimoda at the end of the Tokugawa shogunate, and "Kami-Pu-ren" (1932-34). He was known for his sympathy with the defeated and his tendency to renounce this world.
