Iwakuni Station

...Population: 107,386 (1995). It is written as Iwakuniyama in the Manyoshu, as Ishikuni-go in the Wamyōshō, and as Ishikuni Station in the Engishiki. It has been a key transportation point in the eastern part of Suo since ancient times. In the early modern period, it became part of the Iwakuni territory of the Hagi clan and flourished as a castle town for the Kikkawa clan.
