...In the prefectures of Chiba, Shizuoka, and Aichi, these are called kuseki-chi, but in the case of mountains and rice fields, they are called kuseki-yama and kuseki-da. Land with the same characteristics can be found all over the country, and is known by such names as tatari-chi, noroi-chi, toshi-yama, bachi-yama, irazu-yama, iwai-yama, kisho-yama, yamaida, kechi-da, buku-da, yan-hata, and toshi-hata. Such lands are often accompanied by legends, such as that they were the location of a Jizo or Kojin, that a Buddha statue was buried there, that they were the site of an execution ground, that there was a dispute over land boundaries, or that someone died on the road....
