An old town in Inashiki County, occupying a plateau on the south shore of Lake Kasumigaura in southern Ibaraki Prefecture. The main settlement overlooking the Ono River has been a castle town since the Toki clan in the Middle Ages, and a distribution center for goods transported by water through Lake Kasumigaura. There are extensive rice fields created by reclaimed land, and field crops such as pumpkins, radishes, watermelons, and Chinese cabbage are also thriving. It is a good place for fishing and duck hunting. In March 2005, it merged with Shintone Town, Higashi Town, and Sakuragawa Village in Inashiki County to become a city, Inashiki City. 52.82 km2 .
