Japanese: 心機能検査 - しんきのうけんさ

This refers to a group of tests performed to evaluate cardiac function. The most basic function of the heart is its pumping action, which ensures blood flow throughout the body, and the mechanisms that maintain this action include rhythm regulated by electrical excitation of the heart, contraction of each chamber of the heart, prevention of backflow of blood by atrioventricular valves and aortic valves, supply of nutrients and oxygen to the myocardium by the coronary arteries, and adaptive changes in morphology. Cardiac function tests evaluate each of these functions, and include evaluation of morphology, evaluation of the amount of blood pumped and the pumping pattern, evaluation of the pressure required to maintain blood flow, evaluation of the electrical excitation process, and evaluation of changes in blood and other components that are the cause or result of pathological conditions.

心臓の機能を評価するために行う一群の検査をいう。心臓の機能で最も基本的なものは，全身の血流を確保するポンプ作用であり，この作用を維持するための機構として，心臓の電気的興奮による調律，心臓各室の収縮，房室弁および動脈弁などによる血液の逆流防止，冠状動脈による心筋への栄養･酸素供給，形態の適応的変化などがある。心機能検査はこれらのそれぞれの働きを評価するもので，形態の評価，拍出される血液の量と拍出様式の評価，血流を維持するための圧力の評価，電気的興奮過程の評価，および病態の原因または結果としての血液などの変化の評価が含まれる。
