...Since the Kobayakawa clan, whose castle was Takayama Castle (now Hongo-cho), built Mihara Castle in 1567 (Eiroku 10), Mihara has developed as a castle town. With the opening of the Sanyo Railway (now the Sanyo Main Line) in 1892, a marshalling yard was established in Itosaki, and in 1899, Itosaki Port was designated a special export port, promising the development of an industrial city.
