Itozakura - Itozakura

Japanese: 糸桜 - いとざくら

The branches are covered with flowers about 2cm in diameter before the leaves appear. Another name for the weeping cherry tree.
A cherry blossom thread longer than a half-day's rain \ Matsuo Basho Cherry blossom is written as "Sakura" in Manyo-gana. It can be translated into kanji as "narrow seat," meaning that the flower blooms in a narrow rocky area in the mountains. It was probably named after the mountain cherry. In ancient times, rocky areas in the mountains were people's deep castles (cemeteries). It is not without reason that Kajii Motojiro said, "Corpses are buried under the cherry trees! (omitted) Because it is hard to believe that cherry blossoms can bloom so beautifully" (Under the Cherry Trees).

葉に先だって直径二cmほどの花を枝一面につける。しだれ桜の別名。
半日の雨より長し糸桜＼松尾芭蕉
桜は万葉仮名で「佐久良」と書く。漢字に意訳すると「狭座」で、狭い山中の岩場で咲く花ということ。山桜から命名されたものであろう。古代、山中の岩場は人々の奥津城(おくつき。墓場)であった。梶井基次郎が「桜の樹の下には屍体が埋まっている!(略)何故って、桜の花があんなにも見事に咲くなんて信じられないことじゃないか」(『桜の樹の下には』)といったのも、ゆえなしとしない。
