Ito Sukehiko

...A special syndrome in children caused by Shigella infection. It was classified as an independent disease by Ito Sukehiko in 1914, and in 1922 it came to be treated as a legal infectious disease. There have been several theories as to why children show dysentery symptoms, including the histamine poisoning theory, constitutional theory, adrenal insufficiency theory, and hypocalcemia theory.
