A legendary woman found in Mexico, Spanish America, and Spain. A farmer woman and a rich man fall in love, but the man refuses to marry her. The woman gives birth to a child, but in despair she kills the child and then commits suicide. After her death, the woman's spirit wanders about, and in the form of a beautiful young woman dressed in white, it is said that she cries out in search of her murdered child on windy nights. She is generally considered an evil spirit that attacks people in the dark, but by extension, she is also interpreted as a crybaby woman or a pathetic woman.
