He was from Omi (Shiga Prefecture). He studied under Sankobo and founded the Omi Iseki family of mask makers. A Jo mask made in 1528 is still on display at Kochi Tosa Shrine. There is a theory that the founder of Omi Iseki was Iseki Munenobu, and some believe that Chikanobu was another name for Munenobu. He was commonly known as Kazusa no Suke.
