Eizan Bunko

Eizan Bunko
Located in Sakamoto, Otsu City, this is a specialized Buddhist library related to Mount Hiei. It was opened in 1921 as a commemorative project for the 1,100th anniversary of the death of Dengyo Daishi. It has a total of 110,000 items, including approximately 11,400 books from the Tenkai Collection collected by Tenkai Daisojo of Kan'ei-ji Temple and approximately 9,600 books from the Shinnyo Collection collected by Jitsutoshi Daisojo of Toto, and many of these are valuable manuscripts and printed books from the Heian to Edo periods.

大津市坂本にある比叡山関係の仏教専門図書館。1921年,伝教大師一千百年御遠忌の記念事業として開設された。寛永寺の天海大僧正の収集に成る天海蔵書約1万1400冊,東塔の実俊大僧正の収集した真如蔵書約9600冊など,総数11万点といい,平安時代から江戸時代までの貴重な写本・版本が多い。
