A net made of silk thread to capture small birds that migrate in large flocks, such as thrushes, siskins, and finches. It is so named because it is invisible to birds. In the dark hours of the early morning, stakes are set up at appropriate distances and two nets are stretched out, and decoy birds are made to sing. When a bird flies in, it is caught when it sticks its head into the net. Until the 1940s, this was mainly done in the mountains of the Chubu region, but in 1947, the Wildlife Protection Law was enacted to protect birds, and prohibit such practice except for special reasons such as academic research. → Related topics Net hunting Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
