For example, in Dejima Village, Niiharu County, Ibaraki Prefecture (now Kasumigaura Town), it was called Ishibushi (stone-throwing contest), and it is said that children would get into an argument across the Hishiki River and start throwing stones, with adults and neighbors rushing to support them. It was said that if they were hit by a stone, they could wash it in the river and not get hurt. There were also cases where the iris-beating contest was contested by splitting into two groups, but many places also held horse races and tug-of-war on this day. ...
