２太陽表面の輝度が中心から周辺部へ離れるに従い減少する現象。地球から目にする光球は半透明のガスからなり、中心部ではより内部の高温の層を見通せるが、周辺部では浅い低温の層しか観測できないことによって生じる。縁辺効果。
