〘Noun〙 One of the pieces in shogi. It was started by the blind shogi player Ishida Kengyo around the Keian period ( 1648-52 ), in which the rook is moved next to the bishop, and the two work together to launch an offensive from that line. Originally a surprise attack by the first player, it is now used by the second player.
