Sadamasa Kitaura
1817-1871 A researcher of imperial tombs from the late Edo period.
Born on March 30, 1811. A native of Furuichi, Yamato (Nara Prefecture). A clerk at the Furuichi Magistrate's Office in the Ise-Tsu Domain. He investigated the imperial tombs of Yamato, and published "Utsuminawa" in 1858. In 1860, he was appointed as a samurai of the Tsu Domain, and became the official tomb official. He left behind many achievements that became the foundation of research into Heijo-kyo after the Meiji period, such as "A Diagram of the Area of ​​the Heijo Palace Daidairi Site." He passed away on January 7, 1871, at the age of 55. He was commonly known as Gisuke, and his pen name was Reikitei.
