...The legs are open and delicious as a sushi topping or in vinegared dishes. The similar species, Ishigakigai, is actually called Ishikagegai Clinocardium buellowi and is found mainly in the inner bays of Kyushu and Hokkaido, living on sandy and muddy bottoms at depths of 10 to 30 meters. The flesh is white and soft, and is used as a sushi topping.
