A branch of the Okayama Domain. It was founded by Terutoshi Ikeda (Masamichi Hachinojo), the third son of Mitsumasa Ikeda, the lord of the Okayama Domain. Terutoshi was the adopted son of Wakahara Kenmotsu and then Kumazawa Banzan. In 1657 (Meireki 3), he inherited Banzan's fief of 3,000 koku and became a clerk. When Mitsumasa retired in 1672 (Kanbun 12), he was given 15,000 koku of land, including new fields, from the Bitchu domain of the Okayama Domain. It was established as Ikusaka Domain in 1870 (Meiji 3). Until then, the main domain had ruled the area, and in the same year, a domain office was established at Shinonome-in Temple in Ikusaka Village, Bitchu Province (now Kurashiki City), but the following year in 1871, the domains were abolished and prefectures were established, making it Ikusaka Prefecture.
