...Recently, forced water changes (4-6 times per hour) have been made possible using pumps, which has improved the breeding environment and the functionality of the boat, as water exchange holes in the bottom of the boat are no longer necessary. Boat ponds are often called ikema or kame (pots). Traditionally, the word "pond" conjured up small ponds for keeping fish for a relatively short period of time, but in recent years there are also large ponds used for aquaculture.
