Born August 28, 1886. After his work "Horse" was selected for the Bunten exhibition in 1909, he was selected for the special prize for three consecutive years, and in 1920 he became a judge for the Teiten exhibition. In 1935 he formed the third division, and after the war he was active in the Nitten exhibition. He focused on animals as his subject matter, and was known as "Yuhachi the Horse." He passed away March 31, 1963, at the age of 76. He was from Kagawa Prefecture, and graduated from Tokyo School of Fine Arts (now Tokyo University of the Arts). Other works include "By the River."
