...Fishing is popular with gill nets, long lines and line fishing, with large catches of tilefish, yellowtail, squid, turban shells and sea urchins. The highest point, Mt. Ikurage (180m), was the site of a feudal domain lookout post in the early modern period, but is now the site of an Air Self-Defense Force radar base. The island has been designated a natural monument as a breeding ground for Mishima beef and a habitat for Mishima turtles.
