Angry Young Men

Japanese: 怒れる若者たち - いかれるわかものたち（英語表記）Angry Young Men

A group of British writers active in the 1950s and early 1960s. The name comes from J. Osborne's play Look Back in Anger (1956), and includes novelists J. Wayne, K. Amis, J. Blane, and A. Sillitoe, critic C. Wilson, and playwright Wesker. Many of their works criticize the established order from the perspective of the working class, who had been able to receive higher education thanks to the improvement of the welfare system, but they did not work as a group.

1950年代から 60年代初期にかけて活動した一群のイギリスの作家たちをさす。名称は J.オズボーンの戯曲『怒りをこめてふり返れ』 (1956) に由来し，オズボーンのほか，小説家 J.ウェイン，K.エーミス，J.ブレーン，A.シリトー，批評家の C.ウィルソン，劇作家のウェスカーらを含む。彼らの作品には，福祉制度の充実によって高等教育を受けるにいたった労働者階級の立場から，既成秩序を批判したものが多いが，グループとしての活動はなかった。
