…Miyauchi (Isejima Miyauchi), a Jōun school native of Ise, came to Kyoto at the end of the Kanei era and performed at Shijō-gawara (his storytelling includes Ishibashiyama Shichi-ki-ōchi and others). After the deaths of his rivals Sanai and Miyauchi, Toraya Kitayū, who had already come to Tokyo from Edo, rose to prominence and performed hard-line jōruri. In 1558 (Manji 1), he received the rank of Kazusa Shōjō and was called Tenkaichi Kazusa. His storytelling includes Otomo no Matori and others, and had a great influence on Kyoto and Osaka. …
