A carrier used to carry luggage on the back. It is also called a shiheiko. It is literally ladder-shaped, but there are many different types. Basically, they are divided into two major types: one has arms in the center or at the bottom of the frame, and the other does not. The former are found mainly in Western Japan, and the latter in Eastern Japan. Size also varies from as tall as a person to only about 1 shaku (about 30.3 cm), but larger ones were usually used in plains and smaller ones in mountainous areas.
