Squid cage fishing - Squid cage fishing

...These fishing methods are mainly applied to ocean-dwelling squids such as Japanese flying squid, Japanese red flying squid, and flying squid. Fixed nets and trout nets laid along the coast are used for spear squid and swordtip squid that come close to the coast, and various bottom trawl nets are effective for cuttlefish that live near the seabed. In the past, large-scale deep-sea trawls were used to catch large quantities of European cuttlefish (marketed as Mongo squid). Special fishing methods include the "squid fishing" method, in which a bundle of branches is placed in the sea to catch the squid that come to spawn, and the "squid cage fishing" method, in which female squid are used as bait. [Takashi Okutani]
[cooking]
Squid has been seen among the tributes from various provinces since the Nara period, and it is likely that this was dried fish.

From [Fishing Gear]

...the tools used to catch aquatic animals and plants. The method of fishing is called a fishing method, but a fishing method can also be said to be the way of using fishing gear. The most appropriate method for catching aquatic animals and plants is chosen according to the ecology, habits, and behavior of the target organisms, and fishing gear and fishing methods are closely related.
[Classification]
Because fishing involves humans, who are land creatures, catching plants and animals that live in the water, ultimately the fish and shellfish must be separated from the water. Therefore, it is necessary to either directly hold the organisms in some way (hooking, poking, pinching, etc.) and lift them out of the water, or to separate the organisms from the water by straining them.
