Ibn al‐'Awwām
An Arab agronomist and botanist active in Seville, Andalusia, at the end of the 12th century. His birth and death years and career are unknown. His work, Kitab al-filāḥa (Book of Agriculture), is a 35-volume compilation of the research of Andalusian agronomists and botanists such as Ibn Bassar (died 1105) and Ibn Hajjaj (11th-early 12th century). It also describes in detail the cultivation and farming methods for 588 cultivated plants. It attracted attention in Europe early on and was translated into Spanish (1802) and French (1864-67).
