Novelist and critic. His real name was Seguchi Mitsugu. He was born in Oita Prefecture. While studying at Tokyo Imperial University, he joined the Shinjinkai (New People's Association) and experienced actual movements such as peasant strikes. Heavily influenced by Fukumotoism, he wrote radical critiques such as "Overcome the So-called Socialist Literature" (1927) and "The Rampant Bourgeoisie" (1928). Later, as the person in charge of the reconstruction of the Kop, he sought to change the direction of the proletarian literature movement during its period of decline. After his arrest in 1934 (Showa 9), he changed his views, escaped to China, and worked to organize an anti-war alliance. After World War II, he witnessed the "Kachi Incident." His works include the collection of short stories "Labor Diary and Shoes" (1930), "Autobiographical Literary History" (1959), and "Memoirs of the 'Anti-Japanese War'" (1978-80).
