Onigajo - Onigajo

Japanese:
Onigajo - Onigajo

This scenic coastal spot is located in Kinomoto, Kumano City, in the southern part of Mie Prefecture. It is located at the southernmost tip of the Kumano Nada Rias coast, and the tuff cliffs were eroded by waves and then uplifted, resulting in a strange sight of dozens of caves of various sizes in a row. One of the largest, known as Senjojiki, looks like the lair of a demon or pirate. It is part of Yoshino-Kumano National Park and has been designated a national site of scenic beauty and natural monument. With a circumference of about 1 kilometer, a complete walking trail, an observation deck, and the Onigajo Center, it is one of the tourist attractions along the Kishu route. There is a bus service from JR Kumanoshi Station.
