… Mineral resources include coal found in Pingxiang, Fengcheng, and Leping along the old strata running northeast from the mountainous area on the border with Hunan in the southwest of the province. It was developed at the suggestion of Zhang Zhidong, Governor of Huguang, in the late Qing Dynasty, and together with iron ore from Daye in Hubei, the Hanye Ping Company's steelworks were built in Hanyang (now Wuhan). Even today, Anyuan Mountain in Pingxiang City is a relatively large coalfield in Central China, which is poor in coal resources. Other famous products include copper in Dexing and tungsten from the mountains in the southwest. …
