Angles - Angles (English spelling)
A branch of the Anglo-Saxons that form the backbone of the British people. Ethnically, they belong to the Germanic people. They lived in the southern part of the Jutland Peninsula, but migrated to Britain in the mid-5th century, following the Jutes and Saxons, and formed seven kingdoms by the beginning of the 9th century. England means "land of the Angles."
