Aryasura - Aryasura

A 6th-century Indian Buddhist poet, translated as Shoyu (Holy Bravery). A writer in the style of Ashvaghosha (Memyo), he is the author of the Sanskrit collection of Buddhist tales Jātakamālā . Translated into Chinese as Bodhisattva's Treatise on the Original Life of a Bodhisattva (some say it is a forgery), this is a collection of good deeds performed by the Buddha as a bodhisattva in a previous life, written in elegant prose and verse. Many of the tales are taken from the Pāli Jatakas, and the collection includes 34 stories from the original life of the Buddha.

6世紀ごろのインドの仏教詩人。聖勇(しょうゆう)と訳される。アシュバゴーシャ（馬鳴(めみょう)）の詩風を継ぐ作家で、サンスクリット語の仏教説話集『ジャータカマーラー』Jātakamālāの作者である。これは『菩薩本生鬘(ぼさつほんじょうまん)論』と漢訳され（偽物とする説もある）、仏陀(ぶっだ)が前世において菩薩として行った種々の善行を集めたもので、優雅な散文と韻文とを交えている。説話の多くはパーリ語『ジャータカ』からとり、34の本生話を含んでいる。
