Son of Tomita Tomonobu. In 1601, he became the lord of Anotsu Castle in Ise (Mie Prefecture). In 1616, he became the lord of Itashima Marukushi Castle in Iyo (Ehime Prefecture) due to his distinguished service in the Battle of Sekigahara. He lost a lawsuit brought by his wife's brother, Sakazaki Dewa no Kami (for harboring his wife's nephew, Sakazaki Samon, who had committed a crime and was on the run), and in 1618, he was stripped of his title.
