...A freshwater fish of the Cyprinidae family (illustration). It also has local names such as Sai, Seta (Kanto region), Magica (Lake Biwa), Mino (Aomori prefecture), and Arame (Chikuma River, Nagano prefecture). It is found throughout most of Japan except Hokkaido.
