A military commander from the Azuchi-Momoyama period to the early Edo period. Lord of Kubota (Akita). First son of Yoshishige. Born on July 16, 1230, in Ota Castle, Hitachi Province (Hitachi Ota City, Ibaraki Prefecture). His childhood name was Tokujumaru and his pen name was Jiro. He fought against Hojo Ujimasa and Date Masamune, murdered 33 castles (33 local lords) in the southern part of Hitachi, seized Mito Castle from Edo Shigemichi and made it his castle, becoming a daimyo with a fief of over 540,000 koku. However, Yoshiaki, who supported Ishida Mitsunari, was hated by Tokugawa Ieyasu for his ambiguous attitude during the Battle of Sekigahara, and was transferred to Dewa with a fief of 200,000 koku in 1602 (Keicho 7). He made Kubota Castle his residence, eliminated the local lords, and established the clan system. He was an upstanding person, and once rescued Ishida Mitsunari when he was about to be killed by Fukushima Masanori and others. He died on January 25, 1621.
