Scorpion fish (Kasago) - Scorpion fish

Japanese: カサゴ(笠子) - カサゴ

A general term for marine fish belonging to the Scorpaenidae family of the Scorpaeniformes order, or one of these species. The Scorpaenidae family is also known as the Scorpaenidae family, and includes 72 species found in Japan, including rock fish, rock baru (illustration), bee, dream scorpion fish, giant scorpion fish, lionfish, scorpionfish (illustration), red spotted scorpionfish (illustration), rosefish, and white scorpion fish. Their English names are rock fish and scorpion fish due to their body shape and color, but the latter name was probably derived from the fact that the spines and protrusions on their heads hurt when touched, and from the fact that some of their relatives are poisonous, such as bee and lionfish.

カサゴ目フサカサゴ科に属する海産魚の総称，またはそのうちの1種を指す。フサカサゴ科Scorpaenidaeは別名カサゴ科ともいい，日本産としてはカサゴ，メバル（イラスト），ハチ，ユメカサゴ，ヒオドシ，ミノカサゴ，フサカサゴ（イラスト），アコウダイ（イラスト），バラメヌケ，シロカサゴなど72種に及ぶ種類を含む。英名は体型や体色からrock fish,scorpion fishといわれるが，後者は頭部のとげや突起に触れると痛いこと，および仲間にハチやミノカサゴのような毒魚がいることからも名付けられたものであろう。
