Asao Kozaemon

Japanese: 浅尾工左衛門 - あさおくざえもん

Kabuki actor. Stage name: Kanedaya. (1) First (1758-1824, 8th year of Horeki-7th year of Bunsei-7). His first name was Takeda Jinzaburo, and he was from the Takeda Children's Theater in Osaka. He was called Asai Kozaemon, but in 1794 (6th year of Kansei-6), he became a disciple of the first Asao Tamejuro (the head of the Asao family), a real villain, and took the surname Asao. Imitating his master Tamejuro, he specialized in playing supporting villain roles, and in addition to real villains, he also played hando and oyaji roles. In 1803 (3rd year of Kyowa-3), he played seven roles including Magoemon in "Koi Hikyaku Yamato Orai," and was well received, earning him the nickname "masterful performer."

歌舞伎俳優。屋号は金田屋。(1)初世(1758‐1824∥宝暦8‐文政7)　初名は竹田仁三郎，大坂の竹田子供芝居の出身。朝井工左衛門と称したが，1794年(寛政6)実悪の初世浅尾為十郎(浅尾宗家)の門に入り，浅尾姓となる。師為十郎をまねて，敵役系の脇役を専門とし，実悪の他に，半道（はんどう），親仁（おやじ）方を兼ねた。1803年(享和3)《恋飛脚大和往来》で孫右衛門など七役早替りを演じ，好評を博し，名人上手と呼ばれる。
